Who knew an 18-year-old kid out of Akron, Ohio would become one of the best players to ever touch a basketball and have a reign lasting more than twenty years? LeBron James did.
Right now, LeBron James is on the Los Angeles Lakers and playing his fifth season there and twentieth overall season. He is 1,076 points behind Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, who has the most points in NBA history.
LeBron will undoubtedly get there by the end of this season, but why don’t we take a look at this illustrious career?
The Beginning
In 2003, LeBron James was drafted first overall by the Cleveland Cavaliers. The team was as sorry as it could be with a 17-65 record the year prior, but LeBron changed that immediately. In his first season, the team added another 18 wins to finish 35-47.
While that is nothing special, the change had started. The hero had come.
LeBron led the Cavs to a 67-15 record and to their only NBA finals appearance in 2007, but lost to the San Antonio Spurs, losing the series 4-0.

The Decision
After numerous seasons of losing in the playoffs, James finally had enough and took his talents to Miami to join forces with Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh.
This made Lebron the most hated player in the league, and it wasn’t close. But that didn’t matter to him, he wanted to win, and he did just that.
He won back-to-back championships in 2012 and 2013, along with back-to-back Finals MVPs and regular-season MVPs.
The Promise
Following his fourth straight finals appearance, LeBron James decided to go back to where it all started. He promised Cleveland a championship, and that is exactly what he went back there to do.
Ensuing an injury-plagued Cavs team's loss in the 2015 NBA finals, they found themselves on the wrong side of history again a year later, but all of a sudden, something changed.
On the back of LeBron’s masterful play and game-saving block, the Cavs came back from down 3-1 and won their first-ever championship against the Golden State Warriors. Fulfilling his promise to the team and to the city.
After losing the next two finals, LeBron wanted to go to a bigger market and signed with the Los Angeles Lakers.
In his first season there, the team couldn’t find any success, but in his second year, LeBron returned to his throne and won his fourth NBA championship and Finals MVP.
Since then, many say he has nothing left to prove, and everything else is just the cherry on top of his resume.
Here is a breakdown of what he’s accomplished so far.
There is no doubt that LeBron James is one of the most accomplished players of all time. It’s only a matter of time until he is the all-time leading scorer. It should happen this season, and when it does, he will truly be the king.
Being able to watch his dominance has been nothing but a pleasure.
and once he retires, there will never be another player like him.
